Snot, Scrapes, and Seizures...

Crazy dogs. Lucy (miss snot nose herself) caught a cold from Joey's new puppy, Zane. So, bless her heart, she's even more slobbery and snotty than usual. I made an appointment for her yesterday, but unfortunately had to re-schedule because Brian and I were called in to the doctors office after informing them that I have been having sharp abdominal pains all day long. (Turns out they think it's muscle fatigue from carrying so low, but I'm fine)

Lucy, on the other hand, has a cold AND mange!!! Yes, that's right, hereditary mange (from her mother) that is luckily NOT contagious; so the boys are safe. I received that news from Brian this morning and was told the vet sent home some medications and all should be well.

I went home for lunch and as I'm sitting on the couch, Stanley comes walking around the corner of the couch, high-stepping with all four feet, like something is biting him. His eyes were huge, he was shaking, and all the sudden he fell over onto his side...he was having a seizure! Needless to say, I FLIPPED OUT!!! After trying 3 different vet offices (that are closer to us than our vet who is across town), I finally found some one to see him by which time he was completely fine and excited to see people. I've never been so scared in my life...poor guy. I was hysterical calling people trying to get him somewhere. It broke my heart to see his face. His eyes were huge and he was looking at me, almost pleading for help, and there wasn't anything I could do. Thankfully he was ok.

To top the night off, when I got home from work I went to dish out medications for Lucy and Stan only to find out that the vet tech didn't screw the lid on the drops for Lucy which completely leaked out of the bottle and into the other medications so that all of it was comtaminated! It was about $75 worth of medication ruined. Luckily we have a wonderful vet who was more than understanding and has refilled the perscriptions for us to go back and pick up...unfortuantely, that means another trip across town (most likely instead of lunch one day) :o)

At the end of the day though, everyone is ok and God is still with us...so there IS that to be thankful for.
