Memorial Day Weekend...

What a great (if tiring) weekend. My mom and both my brothers, their respective wives and my niece all came into town over the weekend to visit and play. We had a blast.
On Saturday, Brian went to visit Lane for his birthday while my mom, Lindsay, Adam, and I visited shops on South Congress, snapping fun pictures and having a ball. On Sunday we made a trip to Zilker Park to ride the train and play on the jungle gym...Addison has NO FEAR! In one of the videos she almost plops right off the side of a slide. She was jumping, falling, running, and never protested. We also took her out in a canoe on Town Lake for a few minutes where she had a great time "cooling off" her mom by pouring freezing lake water down her legs.
Sunday night we were all able to get together for dinner at County Line, with the added bonus of Joey, Debbie, and Doug (whom we finally got the chance to meet). It was great having everyone together.
My only wish is that we had more time together. Thank you God for the love and closeness of family. :o)

27 Weeks...

...and I'm starting to waddle!!! What in the hell...when I walk and look down I can see my belly swishing from side to side. When I've told my friends, they don't even try to comfort me (or lie to me) they just agree...is it really that bad? :o)

Today starts the last week of my second trimester and then I'm on to the home stretch. I feel like I'm getting bigger by the day and my back aches have come back with a vengeance!!! I can do this though...only 12 weeks to go. :o)

These last few weeks Maddie will start packing on the pounds, which I'm afraid will mean, so will I. Better be careful or I'm going to be a porker. ;o)

26 Weeks...

...and you're telling me that this belly isn't done growing yet? You have got to be kidding. It's like there's a little person in there or something. For once in my life I have noticeable cleavage and I can't even enjoy it because I look flat chested next to this mountain I'm carrying around...how unfair is that?

There are some cool things happening though (at least on the inside). Madelyn has fingernails, toenails, eyebrows, eyelashes, and head hair. She's also practicing her breathing, sucking in and blowing out amniotic fluid; as well as sucking her thumb and other reflexes. She's about 13 inches long and weighs around 2 lbs.

This week and next and then it's on to my 3rd Trimester and the home-stretch. I can almost see the finish line. Time seems to be flying by, better get a move on. I feel completely unprepared.

Good news: I got the results back from my blood test and do not have gestational diabetes...woo-hoo! There was a little scare. I went in for the first test on Thurs, 5/13, and my numbers were a little high (they want me below 140 and I tested 148), but I also ate a big bowl of Captain Crunch cereal right before I drank the sugar/glucose drink...Oops.

So I had to go back in on Tues, 5/18 for a fasting test. For this one I couldn't eat anything after midnight on Monday, then I had to show up, get my blood taken on an empty stomach, THEN drink the drink and THEN sit around for 3 hours getting tested every hour. This one I passed with flying colors.

So, was the Captain Crunch worth it you may ask??? Absolutely! It was delicious.

No explanation necessary (sorry it's sideways)

25 Weeks...

Had a doctor's visit this morning to get tested for gestational diabetes. Apparently eating a bowl of Captain Crunch right before drinking the sugar-water stuff can mess with glucose levels. I didn't really think about it. They said I could have breakfast and cereal sounded good, so...
...now I have to go back on Tues for a fasting test. This one will take 3 hours and I can't eat anything starting at midnight on Monday night. Ugh! That's good...tell a pregnant lady that she can't eat and watch what happens! Grrrrrrr :o)

Otherwise, I'm doing well. Had a pretty long week. Brian has been in San Antonio all week for work so I haven't been sleeping well and am exhausted. We're all excited that he's coming home today...everyone has missed him.

In fact, Lefty has been dutifully waiting by the door every evening for Brian to come home. He only gets up to eat and drink and the occasional ball throw (life can't be all business).

Uh-Oh...

...I swear I have feet down there! I was in the shower this morning when I noticed...I can no longer see my toes! Holy Crap, when did that happen???

Here's what I see when I look down :o)

This past week Brian and I were able to buy a crib, a changing table, and a glider (my mom's day gift). I told him "I'm not a mom yet, technically just a host," but he still treated me like a queen anyway. He's such a good man.

We were also blessed enough to be able to spend the weekend with Joey and Brody. We took them to the kid's museum and to the park and everywhere else we could think of. Then we had them decorate some frames for Charlie and Sue and we took some pictures to put in them for Mother's Day. What cuties they are.
